A new backpack can mean more than a place to carry pencils, folders, and notebooks. For a child preparing to begin a new school year, it can bring confidence, dignity, and the quiet encouragement of knowing someone cares.
WestYouth is holding its 10th Annual Backpack Drive to support students in our community and surrounding areas who need help starting the school year prepared. Thanks to the generosity of our local Target, we already have an abundance of school supplies. Now we are asking our church family and community to help provide new backpacks to fill with those supplies.
For some families, the cost of school supplies and backpacks can be overwhelming. A simple gift can lift that burden and remind a student that they are seen, supported, and not walking into the school year alone.
There are two easy ways to help:
Buy It!
Purchase new backpacks and drop them off in the Library.
Give It!
Make a donation to help purchase backpacks for students who need them most.
We will also gather for a Packing Party on Sunday, August 16 at 11:45am in the Great Room. This is a wonderful opportunity for the whole church community to come together and serve local families in a practical and meaningful way.
Every backpack matters. Every gift helps. Every child deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need and the encouragement that they are not forgotten.
